Cowgirl Fashion – Yesterday And Today

Cowgirls may be considered by many to be a rough and tough sort. After all, since the beginning of the century Cowgirls have been competing in dangerous rodeo events and doctoring cattle on the range right alongside men. Weve seen the beauties of the west roping, riding and sometimes hitting the dirt! Always taking pride in their appearance, throughout history these women have made the range a more beautiful place to live. Just like cowgirls of yesteryear, todays cowgirls are poised and professional. Their spirit is strong and their beauty shines as bright as a west Texas sunset. But was that really beauty shining or a cowgirl bling belt?

In the rodeo arena, western ladies fashion has always been a big part of the cowgirl image. Since the early 1900s women involved in rodeo and wild west shows were truly showwomen. Commonly donning large hats, brightly colored cowgirl clothing featuring intricate embroidery and fringe laced gloves, these women were sure to attract attention if not for their riding, roping and shooting skills, surely for their choice of attire.

Over the years cowgirl fashion has evolved and changed as fads come and go. Here to stay however is every cowgirls desire to portray an image of who she is by what she wears. Popular choices for modern cowgirl clothing is funky unique clothing with a rock star flair. Turquoise cowgirl jewelry has been a staple in the cowgirls wardrobe of cowgirl accessories and will continue to be for years to come. The turquoise cowgirl jewelry worn by western women often times is handmade on the Indian Reservations of the southwest. Todays cowgirls are proud of their western heritage and stand by their pledge to live by the cowboy creed of honesty and integrity. Many women of the west display their way of life by choosing ornate chunky cowgirl jewelry, cowgirl sandals and other fun western cowgirl accessories.

Some of the most trendy accessories are cowgirl bling belts which have gained popularity in the past few years. Call it cowgirl bling, cowgirl sparkle, or cowgirl glitter, the bottom line is – the brighter, the better! Its not uncommon to see bling-adorned cowgirl purses, and turquoise bracelets beaded with crystal. The sparkles dont stop there, however. Now more than ever it is common to see shirts featuring cowgirl bling cross or fleur de lis symbols. Western ladies fashion of today has a little bit of a dark side with skull and pistol decorated cowgirl hats and shirts being popular, especially with teenage cowgirl fashionistas.

So where does the cowgirl of today find the hottest trends in western fashion? Western clothing stores and cowgirl boutiques are top choices to find great deals on cowgirl clothing and more. To find the best selection of turquoise cowgirl jewelry, cowgirl accessories and even cowgirl dcor items, one might mosey on over to ACowgirlsFetish.com, an online cowgirl boutique for some shopping fun.

Western women not only enjoy taking pride in looking their best, but its not unusual for them to put the same concentrated effort into adorning their western homes with rustic cowgirl home dcor. The internet can also prove to be a great way to find not only cowgirl clothing but also rare and unique cowgirl home dcor items. Popular choices for cowgirl dcor include western themed tables, mirrors, decorative rope accents, western coat racks, lamps, and photo frames just to name a few.

It is said that the women who won the west shaped the world. There is more to being a cowgirl than winning belt buckles or wearing the latest fashions. Cowgirls are just as likely to get noticed because they are strong yet feminine, hardworking yet poised. They dont mind getting dirt under her nails, although chances are they are perfectly polished (a good way to conceal the dirt!). Todays cowgirls grab the traditions of yesterday and ride them in the future, they just happen to enjoy looking extra good doing it!

Fashion Show Organizing Tips

Organizing a fashion show is one of a challenging task. It needs team work where it involves many people’s co-operation and co-ordination. Whether your fashion show is to be a simple fundraiser or an elaborate fashion extravaganza you will have to work hard to achieve proud tears and rounds of applause. Choice of lighting, location and music are important elements of the production process.

Organizing a fashion show means selecting and inviting a suitable judge, selecting models and new fashioned apparels that suit them, selecting a theme and getting the hall, wall and floor done accordingly, choosing a place or a hall that has a ramp, selecting music, inviting the press and photographers, selling tickets, and the list goes on and on.

Do you want to keep it on a local level or go big? In either case, prepare yourself for a little begging as well as negotiating and you had better be organized or be good at it. Get yourself a land line because your cell phone bill is going to be outrageous if you don’t have a plan. Factor in your fuel consumption as you will no doubt be doing a lot of traveling.

Theme also plays a role in this. The environment should ideally reflect the central theme of the clothing line you are featuring. This can be achieved with props and decor as well as through the location itself. The wrong venue can kill a show.

The judge for the fashion show needs to be someone famous and also should have idea about the recent trends in fashion. The audience are more fascinated about the one who presides the show as well. There should be a minimum of 3 judges to judge a particular show so that the final results are not biased. Judges should be invited at-least a month prior to the day of the show. Make sure the judges are warmly welcomed and are escorted to their seats by the ushers.

Models should be selected with care so that they merge with the theme and the clothes or any fashionables they display. The make up man should also be invited to dress up the models and make them presentable on time. The models and the make up man are free to select the clothes and costumes that suit them. The theme is usually selected depending on the clothes that are to be show cased.

Thus with team work & good planning, fashion shows can be organized and populated.

Effect of fashion show on society

Fashion shows are a channel of communication between fashion designers and customers where designers showcase new ideas through merchandise on live models. Saranya looks at the impact these shows have.

Entry of fashion show in apparel industry

Once upon a time, designers showed new styles and designs to clients through sketches. After the dress was completed, it was displayed on a wooden dummy. Fashion dolls are said to be the first means of circulating the latest dress styles. Fashion dolls were used to show upcoming styles and designs to the customers. The dolls were illustrated with new styles and dressed up with jewellery as well as hair and dress styles.

Charles Worth, British couturier in Paris, came up with the idea of the living mannequin. When he opened his own store, his wife modelled his creations in the salon. When the idea worked, he employed mannequins who walked about in the salon or down the runway to show his collections to consumers. It was on early 1911, living models were used as a regular part of fashion promotions for retailers as well as manufacturers in the earliest fashion shows. Worth started his own salon in 1858. and on 1911 living models were used.

Apparel manufacturers need a platform to promote products to the target audience. Fashion shows play a vital role in marketing clothes and conveying recent fashion trends. Nothing is constant in fashion. Designs and styles keep changing. Fashion shows help in creating interest among the public to spread awareness about new arrivals in design and style. These shows help to draw public attention. Fashion marketing scrutinises fashion trends, coordinate sales and promote goods. It is necessary to grant exposure to various trends and styles of clothing. Fashion marketing is likely to notify the public about recent changing trends and about what is in fashion.

Fashion designers forecast trends. They attend trade shows or visit manufacturers to select fabrics and trims. Designers conduct fittings and adjustments on samples of their designs and the end product is marketed to clothing retailers. Fashion designers aim at inspiring the target audience to purchase the products.

Through these shows, fashion designers can express their creative skills and talent in designing various types of clothes. The individual talent of designers is exposed and they get an opportunity to promote their creations.

By involving themselves in these shows, retailers can gain various views of different designs and styles of clothes from designer shows. The knowledge gained from these shows helps retailers incorporate ideas into their boutiques. Using latest fashion software tools, designers can put designs on three dimensional images.

Impact of fashion show on society

Everyone likes to track everyday fashion. Fashion gives designers a chance to be independent in ideas. It boosts confidence in the wearer. Fashion is a form of expression for both the creator and the wearer. It helps people of similar aesthetics to bond.

Is The Fashion Industry Responsible For Eating Disorders

This is a highly debatable subject and although it is not considered to be the cause of eating disorders, media is often viewed as a contributing factor, especially amongst adolescent girls, who view the size and shape of models and actresses, as ideal body image.

Adolescents, who have an eating disorder, often have a distorted body image to begin with. They’re often over critical and ruthless in their self-evaluation, in terms of their body shape and weight. Through the medium of magazines and film, current trends pertaining to body image, or rather society’s image of the body, a person with an eating disorder feels that their own personal body, does not measure up to what is portrayed within the media and ideal or beautiful.

Unfortunately for the past decade, the fashion industry, while admittedly being at the mercy of advertisers,’ has used ultra thin, nearly skeletal looking models. The entire waif look has graced the pages of magazines and film, unfortunately for a person with a non- healthy body image and lack of self-esteem, striving to achieve what society has deemed beautiful, becomes an obsession.

The trend within the fashion industry is beginning to change, most notably in Milan, which have recently refused to allow underweight models to grace their notorious runways. Not all within the fashion industry are so willing to take a stand, they are in business to sell and that if the advertisers’ wants to use all too thin models, then that’s what they will have a gracing their magazines pages.

Although this trend is moving towards the use of healthy sized models, it may help to change society’s ideal on what a women’s shape should be. Some argue that it is much too easy to blame the fashion industry, when in reality eating disorders are at least initially a mental issue of the individual and their own idea of body image.

The debate is far from over and even with the strides that the few within the fashion industry has made, in the attempt to change society’s concept of what an ideal shape should be it is a task that will surely take decades to rectify. Society has a tendency to resist change, even more so if the media’s slow to change with it.

One of the warning signs of an eating disorder is the obsession with all too thin models and actresses. A person who suffers from an eating disorder often has many pictures of excessively thin people, strategically placed normally around mirrors or close to food sources. Generally, these pictures are used to remind the person suffering from an eating disorder of what they want to look like and it is used as a deterrent to eat or as motivation to exercise more.

Japanese fashion designer: Konnichiwa

Wearable art is a new art form introduced with the invention of the sewing machine and its practitioners interpreting fashion the way they think it should be. Vince Quevedo discusses about Japanese influences in fashion and the techniques of creating wearable art.

Results of these experiments were quite successful, giving women one way to express themselves. The famous designer Elsa Schiaparelli introduced use of unconventional objects and silhouettes as acceptable in high fashion. That’s how you may have faces emblazoned on the front of shirts and jackets. Yarn on sleeves has hair for those faces, and plastic bugs for buttons. While couture fashion was out of reach for most women, the outlandish styles they portrayed were art forms worn on the body.

It was this freedom that allowed women to be more creative in their clothing choices. Instead of going to a couturier, some people took on the task of creating original fashion using the best technique they could in producing these clothes. Those who can sew well and could interpret their concepts into something wearable, were able to mimic couture quality clothing. Those who did not have the skills still created original art that turned out beautiful or failed at making a successful garment.

It is this differentiation that caused the variation of defining wearable art just as it is easy to determine good painting from bad ones. There is another contention among artists whether wearable art is truly an art form. While I believe the wearable art movement is still in its infancy, some of the driving forces that affect its legitimacy are technology, access, concept and skill. While making clothes does take a level of skill, it does not make one an artist. With technology giving people the ability to transfer their ideas into something a machine can interpret, it is almost always a pre-determined selection such as machine embroidery, machine applique, machine long arm quilting, sewing patterns and kits.

Access to technology and lack of skills do not prevent anyone from calling themselves an artist. There are many sewing and quilt guilds as well as hundreds of workshops and conferences across America that are open to all. Women wearing vests they’ve made with flowers and butterflies with machine appliques or sewn by hand are the result of attending such a workshop.

Cultural Influence in Fashion

The nude, they say, is the naked body clothed in culture, yet fashion is difficult to define. One thing that comes up frequently in defining fashion is its ability to move fast within the confines of culture. Along with fashion, beauty is almost always intertwined in defining it yet culture has more to do with defining beauty. Fashion is a complete reflection of society. It seems, internationally, the western ideal of beauty was adopted and stood as a standard for all to follow beginning from 1760 to 1840. The industrial revolution introduced technology that exposed new scientific inventions and communication around the world. In the late 19th century, the rotary printer was invented and the fashion magazine was created.

A good example began with copying naval military uniforms of the British by the Japanese soon after the Franco-Prussian War. In 1872, the Meiji emperor mandated men of the Imperial Court to wear western clothing consisting of a frock coat or hat or military regalia. In 1886, the women had to adopt the same rule by wearing corsets and bustles. It was during this period the Japanese elite realised a near-perfect imitation of western wear.

Fashion Is Fun With Online Promo Codes

It’s always fun to save money on fashion, especially when you find hidden discounts through promo codes and online coupons. Using these types of rebates allows you to stretch a monthly fashion budget, which means more clothes in the closet! You’ll feel like a star with new clothes to wear whenever you want.

Finding coupons and promo codes is super easy. Whether you grab a code from an in-store advertisement, or you search for a notable online hub that displays thousands of store’s promotions for both online and in-store sales. Promotions include: free shipping, 10-30% off, free accessories, and more!

Many times you’ll need to click on a link within a coupon-centered website before you see an actual promo code. This process also activates any checkout-visible-only promotions. Retailers pay a commission to their promo code distribution partners for sending a customer that purchases something. So as such, the distribution partners want to make sure they send you directly to the retailers site, and thus claim any potential commission.

Don’t be surprised of there are many stipulations or exclusions regarding the use of a coupon or promo code. Many times they won’t be applicable with certain merchandise, and if the product is already super-discounted, using a promo to squeeze even more savings, might now work. But always make sure you try. Sometimes the website developers forget to set up the exclusions with in the websites database. So there are opportunities to find huge savings for items that are already at a big discount.

Some online stores allow you to combine coupon codes. While not all codes are combinable (you might not be able to use a 10 percent off with a 15 percent off code, for example), you can sometimes enter multiple codes into the checkout page for maximum savings. The better deals will let you use a “free shipping” code, a percentage off, and a free gift with purchase.

What’s great is that there are coupons for almost all of the major online retailers. Sometimes they are tricky to find, and sometimes you only know about them through subscribing to a newsletter. This could lead to some spam, but if it’s a newsletter from your favorite store, why not take a few spam emails each month, to get a really good promo code to use on your next purchase.

Make online shopping an adventure by using promo codes and online coupons to get huge discounts and savings.

Essential strategy for the fashion

Sustainability is a concept that will engage almost everyone for decades, says Angelo Camillo.

The topic of sustainability has assumed global dimensions and now carries political implications. From institutions of higher education to the United Nations, the consensus is that the earth is at risk. Perhaps, grave risk. The scientific consensus on climate change, previously dubbed global warming, has had significant impact on many industries. The textile manufacturing and fashion industries do not operate in a vacuum. They are just as vulnerable as other sectors like food and beverage and play an important role in daily existence and social and economic interactions.

What is sustainability? It depends upon whom you ask. Among the myriad definitions within the framework of textiles and fashion, I define it as a system that includes the natural and human environment that recreates itself, stays balanced hence, sustainable – in order to survive. It includes other systems such as economic, environmental, societal, and personal, on a global scale. Consequently, we must answer this simple question: How can we live in a world in which the earth’s resources that support life can be available to humans, as well as to the flora and fauna that are vital components of the ecosystem? The answer is simple: it has to be a collective and inclusive effort, on a global basis, which creates synergy among all players to benefit the continuation of the earth’s ecosystem.

Understandably, the textile manufacturing and fashion industries cannot be sustainable alone. They can have a significant impact on the entire ecosystem. It is true that change will not happen unless a trigger causes it. Pressure from consumers, competitors, legislative mandates and the personal initiative of activists will compel stakeholders to change.

Textile manufacturing and fashion industries are becoming sustainably proactive

A 2014 survey published by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (National Chamber of Italian Fashion) revealed that only 13 per cent of luxury goods consumers said that sustainability was a fundamental value in purchasing decisions. According to Sourcing Journal, while 38 per cent of consumers go out of their way to find environmentally friendly apparel, 69 per cent would be concerned if they purchased items that were not eco-friendly. In addition, about 39 per cent would hold the manufacturer responsible for eco-unfriendly products. The stakeholders in the fashion industry take this data seriously and have been engaged in implementing sustainability as a critical value of the global fashion system, given the various correlated environmental and social factors including protection of the environment, people’s needs and wants and corporate profits.

The critical challenge is to remain attentive to both the future of the planet and to fashion’s role in that future, given the amount of premium materials used by the world’s top luxury brands. Manufacturers of textiles that use chemicals in less expensive fabric lines – for shoppers at the bottom of the pyramid – need to be concerned as well. In response, many fashion designers, especially the Italians, are now engaged in the standardisation of reference on hazardous chemical substances in textile, leather and footwear products. Increasingly, many textile manufacturers are now ISO certified in various standards categories.
